OCBC Lighthouse Regatta

The easiest way to have a great time on June 20-21, is go to Oklahoma City Boat Club for the Lighthouse Charity Regatta. You can't beat this gig. Not only can you spend the weekend doing fun stuff like, racing Flying Scots, eating & drinking, enjoying live music but you get to feel GREAT about it because all the proceeds go to the Lighthouse Charities! If you have never been to the Oklahoma City Boat Club, you don't know what you are missing. The facility is nice. Lake Hefner is nice. The people are nice. If you are in the Dallas area and have never taken a road trip with your Flying Scot, this is a great opportunity to head on down the road. OCBC is approximately a three hour drive from Dallas. That is a short commute for such a fun time and lets face it, couldn't you use a

If all the previous stuff still hasn't enticed you to race in the Lighthouse Charity  Regatta,  then  how about getting to attend a sailing seminar featuring Kelly Gough of Sailing Strategies. The seminar, presented by Flying Scot South, will begin at 4 pm on Friday, June 19th.

REMEMBER: The Lighthouse Charity   Regatta is   the second  stop  in the inaugural  year of the Flying Scot Southwest District Circuit. The remaining stops include Corinthian Sailing Club's Flying Scot Open House Regatta and Lake Canyon Yacht Club's Wurstfest Regatta.  The first stop of the year was the Southwest District Championship. To qualify to be scored in the circuit,  a Flying Scot must race in 3 of the 4 stops.

The Flying Scot Southwest District Championship was held May 16th - 17th at Rush Creek Yacht Club in conjunction with their Spring Dighnyfest.  Scott & Natalie Mauney won the SW District Championship trophy. A total of 24 Flying Scots raced in the regatta. Out of towners included sailors from Oklahoma City, Austin, Baton Rouge and New Orleans to compete in the regatta  Saturday was spent sailing in rain, wind and waves. Sunday was pleasant with sun and moderate wind.

The Southwest District Championship was the first stop in the  inaugural year of the Flying Scot Southwest District Circuit. The next stop is Oklahoma City Boat Club's Lighthouse, which will be held June 20-21.

 
What a Blast! - Centerboard LCR Results

The Centerboard Leukemia Cup Regatta was hosted by Corinthian Sailing Club on White Rock Lake in Dallas, TX this past weekend  (April 24-26).  Under the guidance of PRO David Butler, the Flying Scots were able to complete six races  - 4 on Saturday & 2 on Sunday.  Tom Miller with crew Melissa Miller and Frank Richards captured first place, Rick Tears with John Skyles placed second. And Jamie Rabbit with crew Terry Jewell & Jason finished third. A total of seventeen Flying Scots registered for the regatta.  Most Scots went 3 up on crew, since the breeze average in the high teens to low twenties with gusts to over 30.
